There's a hinging device located just behind the hitch. The hinging device has three positions. Each position uses a 5/8" pin. The first position, the primary position, keeps the carrier locked in the horizontal position. The second position allows the loaded carrier to lift and float over dips and curbs. The third position will permit you to store the carrier in a vertical position.

Our Tilt-a-Rack Scooter Carrier is a deluxe Fold-Up style rack that is easy to install and use. It provides the independence that you need. There are no electronic components that might fail. Operates by a natural force—gravity! Those who can operate an electric lift and drive can also use this carrier with ease. Gravity and balance work for you!

Requirements: A 2" frame-mounted, class III or greater, 675lb or greater tongue weight receiver hitch on a 1/2 ton or greater vehicle.

With a flick of a latch the rack tilts easily towards the passenger side. The deck-extender pulls out from underneath the unit. This reduces the loading angle of incline on taller vehicles. The leveling bolt on the frame beneath the platform keeps the carrier level for each type of vehicle and levels the center of gravity of the many types of chairs and scooters.
